30 For 30 2013: Day 17 – Ability To Forgive

One of the hardest things in life to do is forgive. When someone hurts us, we often have too much hatred in our hearts to understand that the anger is what is keeping us from being the best we can be. In fact, you could argue that sometimes people let their anger get the best of them emotionally.

Forgiveness is never easy. Finding it in your heart to forgive makes you a good person. I’m just not the type of person that can hold a grudge for a long time. I refuse to let someone else’s petty behavior consume me and my thoughts. Life is too short to hold grudges for extended periods of time.

I have friends who haven’t spoken since high school over some of the most simple things ever. Why does a person hold on to something that long? Did it really matter that much to you that you couldn’t function or forgive?

Sometimes we have to step back and look at the big picture when it comes to issues. Learn to forgive. I didn’t say you had to forget though. Just remember where you stand. Pettiness can be overcome with a big heart and sometimes a simple smile.

I’m glad I have the ability to forgive. Thank God that I do.

This is truly a lost art. Its very sad that soooooo many people can’t forgive and move on in life.
