Football is back and I’m excited. This year is different as none of my teams really have a chance, but I am learning to deal with life after the golden era of my favorite teams. The past few years I’ve made my way to a minimum of 3 road games that the Dallas Cowboys play. One of those games is almost always played in the nations capital as we watch our beloved Cowboys take on the Washington Racial Slurs. This year, I elected not to go as the game will fall on the birthday weekend of my little princess.
If you know anything about me, nothing, (not even football) comes between me and the princess. I can’t wait until she cares enough about it to become my road dog for games but until then, I will continue to hit the road with my people who love the game as much as I do.
As excited as I am about football, I feel as if something is missing this year. I can’t quite put my hands on it, but something about this season feels different. At first I thought it was because my team is in shambles but that’s not the reason. Granted my team could use a total makeover as our roster is littered with injured players and drug abusers.
That being said, I still can’t wait to get out and watch as much football as possible. Local, Statewide, and abroad, my plans are to get out and see as much football as I can possibly take in. My finances were in shambles at the beginning of August but we’ve found a way to salvage our ability to make things happen.
If you see me in your city, hold up your arms, give me a high 5, dap me up, or give a brother a hug, because in the football world we’re all family. It’s nothing but love, even when our teams don’t like each other. The hate is only temporary. Trust me.
