If

what-if

Sometimes in life we all want a do over. One of the most powerful words in the world is a two letter word (if). Anytime you hear a sentence that begins with (if) you already know a person is thinking about what could or should have been. The word has connotations but the reality is that it very seldom has any concrete influence because as soon as people hear it, they go into rebuttal mode.

The recent presidential election has a lot of people saying:

If Hillary would have…..

If Bernie would have been the candidate….

If Trump tries to ……

If Obama hadn’t ….

If black people would have voted….

If white American wasn’t so …..

If people were more educated then….

If Latino’s would have ….

Instead of using it in a pessimistic means, lets look at the word from an optimistic point of view. There’s nothing we can do about the results of the election. All we can do is make the most of our situation. As I posted on Facebook yesterday, it’s not the end of the world. Sometimes you take the hand that’s been dealt and you play the shit out of it. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve found ways to get those 4 books I promised I’d get with a terrible hand in spades.

The Trump supporters did it the past 7 years. They made it. They survived 8 years of Obama. You will too. This might turn out to be a good thing. You never know. This man made it on his own. He didn’t use the Republican party nor did he have celebrity endorsements. He sold the average “white” blue collar worker a dream. He’s going to protect their interests. He’s not a politician. He’s not going to be bound by the special interests. This might not be as bad as everyone thinks. And if it is, We Will Overcome.

We have endured a lot worse. We survived 12 years of Bush rule, 8 years of Reagan, 4 years of Carter, and 200 years of oppression. Tighten up your belt and get ready for the next 3 years. You got this.

Love the spades reference. I agreed, we can bitch and moan. He is our President starting January 2017…we may as well get over it.
