It’s been a minute since I’ve written anything for the blog. Time commitments, and a daughter that requires a lot more of my time has changed the game a little but I’m back on it and I’m going to try and post a few days a week again.
Today I want to rant. The state of America is so opinionated. You know when you have an opinion and another person has an opinion, y’all are basically just two people with opinions… which is cool. It only becomes a problem when people start to believe an opinion is fact when it is not.
The reality is that most of us are not discussing science or research, we’re usually just giving out opinions. No matter how ridiculous you believe another person’s opinion is, it doesn’t mean that your opinion is better… it’s just your opinion. Continue reading
Have you ever pushed yourself too much in an area of your life to the point that it wasn’t as fun as it used too be? I go through phases where I want to dial back who I am in many areas. What causes us to want to trade out things we love to do from time to time? Maybe it’s the Gemini in me but I’m becoming less and less infatuated with social interaction. There are times when talking on the phone seem like a chore. I’ve never really been a very social person but there are times when you feel like you should have interaction with people who you don’t see very often. Continue reading
What is the American Dream? Why can’t we achieve it? Every day we wake up and 80% of the people in America dread going to work. We work our whole lives to position ourselves to do what it is that we want to do and yet 80% of us are still unsatisfied with working the hours we have too.
I went to college for 4 years and got a degree in political science. I was sure I wanted to be a lawyer. It would have probably been a great move right out of college but my experiment at professional football failed miserably and by the time I returned to school things had changed for me. Small towns in the United States have become obsolete. They are the real reason that the American economic system will never reach its intended potential. Sounds like rubbish to some, but the small town in the United States survived on blue collar workers who were willing to do things for small wages that were necessary.
From textile industry, oil fields, farming, or even cultivating resources the need for small town workers was always a bonus to the annals of American industry. So what happened? The answer to that is simple. Outsourcing. Continue reading
In a world of extreme ignorance and hostility there are things in society that turn what should be a celebration into a narcissistic prejudice and a reason to be obtuse in one’s thoughts about society. America is under attack. Not from extreme terrorists, but from extremists right here in our own country. The attack is coming from all angles and quite frankly it may lead to the demise of our national and international respect as a whole.
Politically our country should be celebrating the emergence of individuals who made it. Our last two presidents have had little (44) and no (45) political experience but have found a way to make it to the most powerful position in the world. Continue reading
I am offering a few words for those of you who are seeking employment between the ages of 25 – 35 years of age. Please do not get offended and disregard if it doesn’t pertain to you because this is only meant to help or improve your chances of future employment. If you are in this age range and want to enter the professional business world, I want to share some thoughts. I’m over 40 so this makes me an expert! Actually far from that but I digress.
Some of you very well know I am an educator as well as an entrepreneur. I understand and value time. In order to make money, you have to balance time and put a price tag on your time so you never really want to waste it when you don’t have too. Continue reading
What I’ve found over the years is that some people look for reasons to be unhappy. When things are going great, they find a way to rock the boat. It’s not that they intend too, but they figure out a way to upset what the universe has provided them with.
Pro Football Talk ran a story today about how Antonio Brown was upset when the Steelers scored their first touchdown because he wanted the ball and was pouting on the sidelines. We’re talking about the actions of the best wide receiver in football who is playing in a playoff game for a chance to go to the Super Bowl and you’re over there pouting!!! Continue reading
